which is an uninhabited and not a barren island but proclaimed as barren island by Mrs. Indira Gandhi who also said that it did not have strategic importance, (at the behest of the officials of the MEA)

Indira Gandhi ridiculed the political parties of Tamilnadu which opposed handing over Kachativu to Sri Lanka. She demonstrated an imperious behaviour against Tamils. 

Sir Creek

Narendra Modi, during the last Gujarat elections, "gave a longish narrative on the importance of the importance of Strip of water, named Sir Creek that lies between India and Pakistan. He spoke of its importance for Gujarat and the nation, and how he had information that the Union government was planning to do a deal with Pakistan on Sir Creek on 15 December. The reference was probably to the Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s visit to Delhi from 14 December."

Sonia Gandhi became furious and said that she was not parting with Sir Creek to Pakistan. She says that she was not compromising with nations integrity. Modi also attacked the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on this issue.
